Faculty Member, Interdisciplinary Studies and Appalachian Studies

About
After a decade or so in higher education administration, I am returning to a faculty role in two interdisciplinary programs at Appalachian State University: Interdisciplinary Studies and Appalachian Studies. My background is in English, and most of my publications have been about British Romanticism in one one way or another, often through the lenses of hermeneutic and ethical theory. My current project is called simply "Interpretation and Ethics"; I am trying to take on more directly the relationship between interpretive modes and ethical action, drawing on hermeneutics, post-analytic and Continental ethical theory, and cognitive science. My connection to Appalachian Studies is largely a function of my long-time involvement in bluegrass music.
